Extension privacy policy

Your screenshots stay local.

FastMarkup captures the visible area of the tab only when you press its capture shortcut or select Start annotating. It uses that image and your annotations in the browser to create the PNG you copy or download.

Data handled

• The visible webpage image can contain website content, personal information, or other sensitive information visible on your screen.
• Annotation strokes, text, and callouts exist in memory while the overlay is open.
• Preferences such as tool, color, stroke width, and toolbar position are saved in chrome.storage.local. A recent capture error may also be saved there for display in the popup.

FastMarkup does not send screenshots, annotations, page content, browsing history, or preferences to its developer or any server. It has no account, analytics, telemetry, advertising, or cloud storage in this version. Captures and annotations are discarded when the overlay closes. Browser clipboard contents and downloaded files remain under your control. If you paste or share an image with another service, that service handles it under its own terms.

Permissions

activeTab grants temporary access to the tab you invoke FastMarkup on. scripting adds the annotation overlay to that tab. storage saves local preferences and recent capture errors. clipboardWrite copies the PNG you request. FastMarkup requests no host permissions.

Control and deletion

Close the overlay with Escape to discard a capture. Clear saved preferences and errors by removing the extension or clearing its extension storage in Chrome. Delete any PNG files you downloaded using your operating system.

Future changes

If a future version introduces accounts, payments, or remote storage, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures must be updated before release. Such features are not part of the free version described here.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

This website

This static website does not ask you to create an account or upload screenshots. It loads typography from Google Fonts, which makes a request to Google's servers when you open the site. The website has no analytics script in this version.
